Back on the Road

After an eventful ending to last year when I had to undergo radiation therapy for a skin cancer on my right cheek; I have completed the treatment and will have a final evaluation with my specialist next week.

During my treatment, I was severely curtailed in what I could do, as much as the radiation treatment meant I could not go out in bright sunlight; I was not allowed to do anything that might create problems for the healing process.

Needless to say, with my previous surgical operations to remove skin cancers, this meant I was almost 'housebound' for about 4 months.

This also meant my promotion of my memoir was somewhat curtailed, though I still managed to fit a couple of talks in.

Two weeks after having completed my course in radiation therapy, I was given the OK to return to 'normal life'!

Last week I went back on the 'talking trail' giving a talk to the local community group in Illawaong (a suburb of Sutherlandshire), which was well received. (see photos) I have further talks organized, which I am looking forward to.

I am still receiving a lot of positive feedback on my memoir. Only last week I received an email from a friend in Scotland who informed me that his partner no longer plays 'Scabble' with him while she is reading my book!

I was speaking with a group of younger people last week about my book and one of them said she remembered me from giving a talk on my  poetry to her school class over twenty years ago! I still have the poem which this children's class wrote for me about my visit! Maybe poetry is the way to go!

Below are some photos from my latest talks given on my memoir in February.
