Words from Scotland

Had an email from a past student of my High School, Victoria Drive, she had purchased my memoir for her dad, who was of similar age to me.

He said, my comments at the end of the second chapter about a 'poor man's goldfish' (Baggy Minnows & Sticklebacks) reminded him of the times that he too used to fish for 'baggy minnow'. His daughter had never heard of those, so he had to explain!

Funnily enough I had the same experience when talking to a taxi driver in Glasgow. As we passed Victoria Park, I mentioned that was where I used to catch Baggy Minnows and Stickle backs; he'd never heard of these either! I had to explain..

..But I also got a poem out of it (see attached)
